Ohio Department of Taxation – Withholding Tax

Agency Information

Add to existing company setup

Submit a request to your service team to add  OH (withholding) to your company setup. Please include the below with your request:

  • Withholding – Withholding account number and Deposit Frequency.  If you’re unsure of your deposit frequency or account number you can call the agency at 888-405-4089.
  • Power of Attorney- POA is required, please obtain the prefilled form from your client service representative.

  • Third Party Access – All clients are required to add permissions in order for us to file and pay taxes on your behalf.  Please review the Third Party Registration Instructions.

Register a new company

Employers can register online at https://gateway.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gateway/BusinessGateway. Select the Never used the Gateway?- Create an Account link. Follow the prompts to create an account and register your business. You will receive your account number and deposit frequency immediately after registering.

Third Party Registration Instructions

  1. Sign into the Ohio Business Gateway at https://ohiobusinessgateway.ohio.gov/OBG/Membership/Security.mvc/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fOBG%2fMembership%2fHome.mvc%2fIndex#MainContainer.
  2. Select Administration tab.
  3. Scroll to the Group (Shared Access) Administration tab and click Create Group.
  4. In the Group Name field enter “WITHHOLDING”.
  5. Select Admin access for the following service areas:
    • Ohio Taxation – Employer Withholding
    • Municipal Taxation – Withholding Tax
  6. In the Service Provider/Representative ID field, enter our Representative ID that was provided to you be your service representative.
  7. Check the acknowledgement agreement box.
  8. The select Validate ID.

Ohio Department of Job and Family Services – Unemployment tax

Agency Information

Add to existing company setup

Submit a request to your service team to add OHSUI (unemployment) to your company setup.  Please include the below with your request:

  • Unemployment – Account Number and Tax rate.  This can be found on a Tax Rate Notice or the Quarterly contribution report.  If you’re unsure of your tax rate or account number, you can call the agency at 614-466-2319.
  • Power of Attorney- POA is required, please obtain the prefilled form from your client service representative
  • Third Party Access – All clients are required to add permissions in order for us to file and pay taxes on your behalf.  Please review the Third Party Registration Instructions.

Register a new company

Register online at https://jfs.ohio.gov/ouc/uctax/registering_as_an_employer.stm.  Select the link under How to Obtain an Employer Account Number.  Follow the prompts to register your business.  Once completed you will receive your account number and rate.

Third Party Access Instructions

  1. Log in to your account at https://eric.ohio.gov/ERICWeb/faces/jsp/security/ericLogin.xhtml
  2. Select Manage My Account tab.
  3. Select User/TPA
  4. Search by TPA Account number that was provided to you by your service representative
  5. Add authorization for the below:
    • Manage Account Status
    • Report and Remit payments
    • Submit Appeals and Waivers
